I'm so happy! My husband told me that we will have hanging kitchen cabinets soon.

See this?

This is our small kitchen before we moved in. We cleaned it up, of course. But now, it's so cluttered.

Here's the project I worked on for me and my husband's 7th wedding anniversary. My gift to him.

Since our anniversary fell on a Monday, we had an advance celebration last Saturday. Basically we just spent the day together. We had a full body massage at Red Apple, went to the gym, watched the fireworks at MOA and pigged out at Mang Inasal (with their unlimited rice...balewala ang gym hehehe! mga mapagkunwari!). The next day, we were in for another treat when my in-laws invited us to celebrate with them. We ate a nice dinner at Mom's and Tina's Bakery Cafe. I had a really nice time!

..at the end of the day...I realize that anniversaries are really not about the gifts exchanged but more of a celebration of love...a thanksgiving. I'm happy that Jay and I have gone this far. I can only thank God for everything!

My husband and I will be celebrating our seventh wedding anniversary this 10th of November. That's just a couple of days from now. Since I just got started working, I do not really have money to spend on a present or a date with him. I haven't got my pay yet. I badly want to give him a PSP. I heard him say a couple of times that it would be nice if he could have one. Because it's "multi-purpose", he would say....other than it being a gaming device...it's wifi capable, a music player and e-book reader all rolled into one...

We looked it up in SM Mega and it amounts to a whopping P11,000.00.  That's very expensive for me. I'm sure I can find something cheaper in greenhills or somewhere else. Still,... (I'm broke, remember?)

So, like what I always do in dire situations...I resort to my so-called "creativity". I prepared a ----- ----------- ! I finished it last night. I was so happy that I told him I already have a gift for him. He was so intrigued and curious. I noticed that he was kind of excited too! He seems to have such high expectations that I'm having second thoughts about my gift...I hope he'd like it...

I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm working again! Just got a part-time job as a teacher.
I'm happy to again do something that I really love. Though I'm going to be a bit more busy than before, I sure hope that I can still fill up this space with my projects and other stuff. I hope I would be able to balance my time doing housework and my teaching stint...

Two weeks ago, Jay and I brought out some of my books that have been rotting away in our storage boxes for months. I wanted to take them all out, but I thought it would NOT be a good idea. It's only going to add to the clutter since we do not have bookshelves (at the moment). So, I just selected a few books that I planned on reading and those I have already started but have not finished yet.

Now, I have several books piled one on top of the other on my PC table...each one seemingly staring at me and begging me to read them. It has been a while since I really sat down and read. My goal is to finish reading a couple of books before the year ends. Let me see, which one should I pick first?

Here are some more of my Photoshop practice. This time I made some Multiply themes based on the Avlack Template, which I believe is the easiest one to customize.

I got some pictures from the Internet and collected some of my favorite quotes and combined them into a personalized theme. Unfortunately, I do not know how I can show you guys the overall look of the themes. So I just uploaded the banner images.

Here they are with the CSS codes, just in case you want to try them on your site :) Simply click on the thumbnails to view. By the way, please do set your template to Avlack before applying the codes.

Had a lot of fun working on them :)

My husband and I had just transferred to our home in July and we haven't really worked on the interior design and decoration of the place. Our walls are still bare and we still lack some furniture and appliances to complete the look of our home.

Honestly, I'm really not in a hurry to have it all done and completed. I believe in the idea that design of the home should evolve gradually. These days, we have to be careful with our spending. The budget should be highly considered and we should set our priorities right. Anyway, my husband and I can get by with the things that we have from our previous home and most importantly, we're happy.

Our home looks neat and nice, actually. I guess we just needed to amp it up a little with a style or decor here and there. A very good friend of mine suggested that I come up with the decorations myself, such as a cross-stitch art, so that it wouldn't be very expensive. Plus, I can proudly say that it's a "labor of love". I thought it was a really good idea.

Now, I'm really not a "crafty" kind of gal, but it was something that I liked to get into in a long time. I just didn't have the chance and the time to do it. So to cut the story short, I bought myself a Spring Themed cross-stitch pattern. The one below:

DMC Store Megamall
Pattern Price: about P150.00 (plus free pattern)
Thread: about P10.00-11.00

(I lost the receipt kalimutan ko na kung magkano exactly pero parang total of P300 ang binayaran ko. Yung pinaka-canvas and needles ko was hand me down from my mom-in-law, so i didn't have to buy anymore.)

What I liked about the design is the cherry blossoms. It's one of my favorite flowers, though I haven't seen one or touched one personally. Also, the two birds are like me and Jay hahah :)

I've already started working on it 2nd week of September and I must say that it's no walk in the park. Maybe because it's my first time or my choice of design. I should have chosen a simpler one...but it's alright. I'd rather choose a design I like rather than a simpler pattern just because it was easy to do.

Oh, this will truly be a "labor of love". It took me hours just to finish a few stitches on one cherry blossom. I had to stop because my eyes were already teary and my back was hurting. And yet, I haven't done 1/8 of the design!

I wonder, when I'm going to finish this.

Have patience, Ellen. :)

Photoshop has always been a very complicated software application for me. Somehow, it has found its way to my heart and caught my fancy. Here are samples of my photoshop practice. Hope I'd get better at it.

Part of being a full-time housewife is having lots of free time once the chores for the day are over and done with. And since I'm a full-time wifey with no children to look after (yet), you can just imagine how much more spare time I have in my hands. I actually have tons of ideas on how I want to spend my idle hours. But they are so many that I could hardly set my mind on a few things that I could do (realistically).

So, I narrowed down those activities that (1.) really do interest me, (2.) that's not so expensive, and maybe (3.) something I can profit from in the future.

Keeping in mind my chores for each day, I prepared a schedule of my daily activities to help me make the most of my time. Hopefully, it would help me keep track of what I do, consequently giving me a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. I mapped everything out using Google Calendar. It would be nice if I could have it printed out...but I don't have a printer.

I hope I could stick to my schedule.

I'm so happy to finish tweaking the design of my multiply page. I've been trying my hand on designing and Photoshop for the last couple of weeks...only to stop every now and then because of frustration and boredom. I just couldn't come up with the colors and style I like. It was so difficult to get what I want since I'm not proficient with Photoshop and web design.

However, I would have to admit that it was a learning experience. It taught me patience. Was able to practice my research skills. I believe it's a skill that I can hone. Also thanks to my husband who helped me getting around with Photoshop. He's God-sent!

Here are some sites that have helped me with designing my site:
1. Avlack Parts
2. MultiplyThemes.com
3. Grouped.Multiply.com

I do feel a sense of accomplishment having completed the design part of my site. It means that I may now focus on filling up this place with my projects...wohoo!

Hope you can share in my adventures :)

Peace!
